Supporting a strong, sustainable, and globally competitive game development ecosystem in Iceland.
Icelandic Gaming Industry

An Industry Comes Together
Uniting and Empowering Iceland’s Game Development Community
The Icelandic Game Industry (IGI) exists to strengthen, represent, and unite the voices of Iceland’s game developers, studios, and creative professionals. Our mission is to build a sustainable, globally competitive environment for game development in Iceland - one that nurtures innovation, creativity, and economic growth. We believe games are not only a cultural and artistic medium but also a vital part of the modern digital economy. Through collaboration with local and international partners, we strive to make Iceland a recognized hub for game creation, talent, and technology.
Advocacy and Industry Development
IGI serves as the primary advocate for Iceland’s game industry, working closely with government bodies, educational institutions, and private stakeholders to ensure a supportive ecosystem for game developers. We lobby for forward-thinking policies that make it easier to create, fund, and distribute games from Iceland, including tax incentives, research and development support, and international visibility programs.
By engaging in ongoing dialogue with policymakers, IGI helps shape the regulatory and financial frameworks that empower both emerging startups and established studios to thrive in a competitive global market.
Community and Collaboration
At the heart of the Icelandic Game Industry is a vibrant community of creators; programmers, artists, writers, musicians, and entrepreneurs who share a passion for storytelling and innovation.
IGI provides a platform for these voices to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate across disciplines. We organize networking events, workshops, and conferences that strengthen professional relationships and foster new ideas. By facilitating collaboration between academia and the private sector, IGI helps ensure that Icelandic game development continues to grow through education, creativity, and cross-industry innovation.
